CDC Growth Charts - Updated

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has recently revised the Pediatric Growth Chart Web site to include growth charts in Spanish and French, Frequently Asked Questions, a new entry page for the interactive web-based training modules, a revised PowerPoint presentation, and a link to WIC-specific growth charts (for ages 2 to 5 years). All growth charts and related material can be accessed at http://www.cdc.gov/growthcharts/

The interactive web-based training modules are aimed at pediatric health care professionals, including nutritionists, dietitians, nurses, and pediatricians to provide expertise in using and interpreting the 2000 growth charts. Module topics include an Overview of the CDC Growth Charts, Using the BMI-for-age Growth Charts, and Overweight Children and Adolescents: Recommendations to Screen, Assess and Manage. Other growth chart-related modules (Accurate weighing and measuring, Using the CDC growth charts for children with special health care needs, Adolescent physical development: uses and limitations of growth charts, Children with poor growth, and Head circumference) developed by the Health Resources Services Administration's Maternal and Child Health Bureau can also be accessed at the site or at http://depts.washington.edu/growth. Knowledge Path: Childhood Nutrition – National Center for Education in Maternal and Child Health (NCEMCH)

NCEMCH has updated the knowledge path on childhood nutrition. This electronic document offers a guide to the Center's Web site on the topic and selected electronic and print resources found elsewhere. Identified in the knowledge path are downloadable electronic publications, databases, project descriptions, electronic discussion lists, and Web sites. Betsy Haughton at University of Tennessee and Jan Dodds at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill assisted in the development process and provided content review.

Nutrition fact sheets (Nutrition for your infant, Nutrition for your toddler, and Nutrition for your child) are available on the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation web site. The fact sheets are endorsed by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Education Committee, which is composed of experts in CF care from across the United States. PNPG members were involved in the development of these educational resources.

Bright Futures in Practice: Physical Activity
